After a few months…

of doing FSF about three times a week, I am not yet in my splits. In fact, I don’t think I’ve made much progress at all. My ballet teacher tells me that he sees a difference so maybe I’m just not remembering where I started.

That said, I really enjoy doing the routine and plan on continuing for the time being. It is relaxing and feels good. Unlike the other flexibility programs I have tried, including yoga, there isn’t any hamstring strain, back/knee pain or any other negative consequence. So while I am not thrilled that I am not much closer to my splits and my kicks aren’t much higher, I am thankful that I haven’t injured myself and hopeful that I will see more results eventually.

My problem, I think, is that after so many years of tumbling and weight-lifting and running, my legs, back, and probably my entire musculature, is full of knots that are constricting my range of movement. So it will take a while for me to overcome that.

It is very important to me that I get more flexible in the next few months so I will be doing the program more often…like every day. Plus I will do additional tennis ball massage and add in some exercises from my Elastic Steel DVD on the splits. Wish me luck!

I had a dream…

that I did the splits. I’ve had this dream many times, and it always feels so real that I wake up thinking I really can do them.

This time, I was stretching in a random building, maybe the backstage area of a theater. It was a surprise to slide all the way into a left split. People from my dance studio were in other rooms while I was alone. I started screaming for someone to come and take a picture of me in my split. I grabbed my phone to call one of the other dancers, but her number was not coming up. I screamed and screamed, but no one heard me. I was so desperate to document my first split.

Then I woke up!

By a great coincidence, I received my “Front Splits Fast” package today! I didn’t expect to get it so quickly. It said 5-10 business days, but it’s been less than that! Merry Christmas to me!

So far I’ve watched the first DVD which explains the program in great detail, including the tests, exercises, massages, and stretches. Tomorrow I will do the tests, take pictures, and then follow the second DVD which leads you through the program in real time!

It arrived!!

It arrived!!

Interesting discussion of the Front Splits Fast program

Make sure to read the last few entries where people describe using the neck massage technique from the video I posted below.

I have tried doing the neck massage on myself, and while it has been pleasant and relaxing, it hasn’t worked on my flexibility. BUT I’m sure I’ve doing it wrong since I haven’t received the program yet. This weekend, I’ll see if I can get my boyfriend, Eric, to massage my neck like in the video!

Why I think this will work…

Once I auditioned to dance for an entertainment company.

While warming up, I noticed that my kicks were super high and I was close to a full split!

I talked to another dancer, and he said it’s common for your nerves to make you more flexible! I always longed for a way to harness that to be flexible in all situations.

It seems like that is what Front Splits Fast will teach me!

My quest to get flexible…

Each time I drive through a tunnel I make the same silent wish.

I wish to be able to do the splits

Growing up doing gymnastics and dance, I was expected to be flexible, but I never was. I could barely touch my toes!

I hated when my dance teacher would add a high kick to the choreography because my kicks were so low. I felt shame during the beginning of gymnastics practice when I had the worst splits on my team. One day when I was 13, my coach took me aside and told me that I should quit gymnastics because with my lack of flexibility, I could never be good.

Despite this, I never quit dance or gymnastics, but I never got flexible either. Instead, I did everything I could to make my wish come true. I went to stretching workshops and classes. I got a job at a hot yoga studio and took five classes a week. I bought a stretching apparatus that I used religiously. I spent hundreds of dollars on various books and specialized DVD’s that promised to get me there. Nothing has gotten me anywhere close to a split.

For awhile I thought I would never get there. Now, I’m still not sure, but I have hope and one last method to try.

It’s called Front Splits Fast.

Did you know that when a very stiff person is under anesthesia, he instantly becomes super flexible?

A physical therapist in Australia saw that firsthand while watching a live operation, and she set out to find out why this happens and how people can access the flexibility that is always within them. What she found is that it’s not the muscles that determine how limber you are…it’s the nerves and fascia. That’s about all I know about it now.

So I just ordered her program. It should arrive in a few weeks, but she sent me a few online videos to watch in the meantime. I am praying that it works for me. She doesn’t have very many testimonials on her website so I decided to create this blog to demonstrate how it is working for me.

Wish me luck!
